Four members of the Illinois College softball team have earned all-conference honors, the Midwest Conference announced on Thursday.
Junior outfielder
Paige Cullison, sophomore outfielder Brittany Fanella, sophomore catcher
Courtney Kwasnitza and freshman pitcher Amanda Price were all MWC South Division First Team selections.
Cullison led the Midwest Conference in batting average (.491), on-base percentage (.545), hits (54), runs scored (38), triples (2) and total bases (78). She also led the Lady Blues in stolen bases (11) and doubles (11). She ranked second on the team in home runs (3) and RBIs (27). She started all 34 of Illinois College's games and committed just one error, while providing three outfield assists.
Fanella led the MWC in RBIs (33) in her first season playing for the Lady Blues. She ranked second in the league in home runs (7) and third in slugging percentage (.653). She also led the league in hit by pitches (5). She ranked second on her team in doubles (8) and third in both hits (33) and runs (22). She batted .347, third-best among IC regulars. Fanella started all 34 of her team's games and committed just two errors.
Kwasnitza tallied the fourth-most hits (49) in the Midwest Conference in 2013. She was tied for the league lead in triples (3), fourth in stolen bases (10), sixth in runs scored (27) and seventh in batting average (.392). She also ranked second on her team in stolen bases (10). Kwasnitza started every game for the Lady Blues, committing just two errors during the 2013 season.
Amanda Price led Illinois College in earned run average (2.85) while posting a record of 6-4. In 71 1/3 innings pitched, Price allowed just three walks and hit only three batters.. She surrendered 82 hits and 29 earned runs, while striking out 29 batters.
The Lady Blues finished the season with an overall record of 20-14 and a Midwest Conference mark of 10-5.
