11/6/2015 7:00:00 PM

GRINNELL, Iowa – Junior middle hitter Lisa Lowry of the Illinois College volleyball team was named to the All-Midwest Conference Second Team on Friday evening. Lowry becomes the first IC volleyball player since Courtney Sweatman in 2011 to be named all-conference.

"Lisa made the transition from setter to middle hitter look easy this season," said Head Coach Kristy Duncan. "She became a go-to hitter for us and the team relied upon her passing and defense as well. Being a six-rotation player is something which helps her stand out on the team and in the conference. We are thrilled that her hard work has been recognized by the coaches in the conference and look forward to having her back for an even better senior season."

Lowry appeared in all 28 matches and 102 sets for Illinois College in 2015, leading the team with 340 kills on the season, an average of 3.33 per set which ranked third in the MWC. She was also second on the Lady Blues with 23 service aces and added 178 digs and 45 blocks. She ended the season with three matches of more 20 or more kills and had seven double-doubles, three of which came against MWC opponents.

With Lowry as one of the team's leaders both offensively and defensively, Illinois College put together a record of 13-15 for the season, the most wins by the program since 2008.
